The NEWSPLAN 2000 Project is saving over 1,700 of the most endangered UK local newspaper titles and preserving them for future generations through a unique partnership between the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), the UK regional newspaper industry, and UK libraries.

The UK regional newspaper industry, and its professional associations, the Newspaper Society and the Scottish Newspapers Proprietors Association, have taken an unparalleled interest and constructive involvement in supporting and contributing to the safeguarding and preservation of the rich history of local newspapers that have been created and have flourished over generations in every part of the UK.

The Project - and all those both across the UK and all over the world who use local newspapers and care about them - express their warm gratitude to all the UK industry groups that are contributing to the work of the Project.

If you would like to know more about the work of the industry groups, you may click on the appropriate link and this will take you directly to the relevant homepage.
